Fostering
is a way of looking after young people who are not able to live at home
and you may be living with foster carers at the moment. Some young people
stay in foster care for a very short time, others need to stay longer.
If
you are living with foster carers you need to know what your rights
are:
You
have the right to:
- have
your own space that is private
- be
made to feel part of the family
- be
treated the same as the foster carers own children
- be
taken on holiday
- have
new clothes when you need them
- have
pocket money
- feel
supported and encouraged to do well in life
- be
encouraged to express your wishes and feelings
- have
an opportunity to have a go at any leisure activities you're interested
in
- be
supported to keep in contact with all the important people in your
life
Most
importantly you have the right to feel safe and comfortable.
You
can give us feedback on your foster carers by using the Contact
Us form or by completing the Foster Carer Review form (link
on the right)
As
you get older you may move into supported
lodgings. Please see our supported lodgings page for more
information.
Alternatively
there is supported
accommodation - for more information about this please see
the supported accommodation page.
