There are 13 ESLAC teachers who each work with a group of schools to support the education of Looked After Children. When you become looked after by the Local Authority, you will be allocated an ESLAC teacher who is attached to whichever school you go to. Their job is to make sure that you get the best out of your education and that you achieve the best results you can. They will work with your Social Worker, Carer or Key Worker and Designated Teacher for Looked After Children at your school to make sure that everyone is doing their best for you. Your ESLAC teacher is also responsible for setting up a meeting to write up your Personal Education Plan (PEP) (part of your overall Care Plan). This meeting is there to make sure all the adults working with you understand exactly what your learning needs are and can all work together to give you the best education they can. Your PEP is reviewed every six months in line with your LAC reviews. If you would like to know any more about the Virtual School or ESLAC service you can contact Sue Hains (Head of Virtual School) on 01223 712904. And here is what your Virtual School Teachers look like.
