Education Maintenance Allowance
The Education Maintenance Allowance is to make sure you have some money whilst you continue to study from 16 - 19 years old.
These could be payments of up to £30 a week for young people who carry on in education after GCSEs and whose household income is less than £30,810.

And just as a reminder the national minimum wage went up from 1st October 2008 to:
Over 21s: £5.73 an hour
18 to 21-year-olds: £4.77 an hour
16 and 17-year-old: £3.53 an hour
So talk to your Connexions Adviser about how to make sure you get the best possible education.
