Dig For Sustainability Launch event and POSTER

Calling all young people aged 13-20 for the 'Dig for Sustainability' project!

This hands-on, youth-led project recruits young people (between 13 and 20 years old) to participate in a wide range of activities over 12 months which will increase your understanding and skills relating to heritage and conservation and to create your own Dig for Victory style allotment Garden in Cambridge which will form an exhibition open to the local schools and youth groups in the summer holidays and autumn school term of 2009!

'Dig for Sustainability' is an exciting new volunteer opportunity which will reinterpret and link the World War 2 era practices of rationing, 'make do and mend' and 'growing your own' to the current day sustainable lifestyle practices of carbon rationing, the '3 R's' (reduce, reuse and recycle) and self sufficiency gardening. Young people participating in this project will receive a nationally recognized V certificate.

The launch of this project will be in London, on Friday 24th October will involve the group of thirty young people.

The launch event includes:

Visit to the Dig for Victory exhibition in St James Park London
Visit to the Imperial War Museum, London
Opportunity to meet Royal Parks staff and learn about their work
Free entries to the exhibitions
Free travel
Free packed lunch

Have a look at this invitation and if you are interested..... Apply now to Clayton.lavalin@harambeecentre.org.uk (Tel: 01223 358116) to secure your place on this visit and in the project!

Calling All Young People aged 8-13 years!

Have you got something to say about social workers? Want to make a difference to the way social workers are trained? Would like to be paid for your time? If you answered 'yes' to any of these then we want you! The Anglia Ruskin University is setting up an under 13s group in The SUCI Project (Service User and Carer Involvement project), and we are looking for young people to join us. At the SUCI project we are keen to hear the views of young people like you, who are experts on social services. What we learn from you, we will use to train student (and existing) social workers to be better at their job. You can even tell the students yourself in their lessons if you like!

Don't worry; taxis are provided for people to attend, so you don't need to worry about a thing… Sounds good? Great news!
